Prattco has been digging basements and providing complete excavation services from start to finish all over Calgary and the surrounding areas. Committed to Safe Excavation

At Prattco, our aim is to maintain a safe and healthy workplace. All of our excavation sites have a zero incident goal. No job is so important that it can’t be completed safely.

No one individual is delegated to maintain safe operations. Safety is the responsibility of all involved parties, including contractors, subcontractors, tradespeople and operators of all experience levels. Everyone will observe and assist in all aspects of their wellbeing and the wellbeing of their teammates. Through training and safe work practices, we can maintain a healthy work environment.

We hold a Workplace Safety Certificate of Recognition (COR) from the Alberta Construction Safety Association. This certificate recognizes that the employer’s health and safety management system has been evaluated by a certified, independent auditor and found to meet the Alberta Construction Safety Association’s exacting standards. Our health and safety management systems can reduce injuries and eliminate the social, physical and financial effects of workplace incidents. Many corporations will only work with excavators who hold a COR and Prattco is proud to be one of the COR-holding excavators in Calgary.

Gravel Truck Driver
This position requires a Class 1 licence, transportation of heavy equipment a great knowledge of the city. You should have a clean abstract and be safety-minded. Wages to be determined based on experience.

Track Excavator Operator
In this position, you will visit residential and commercial back-fills and load trucks. You should have a working knowledge of blueprints and site grade plans. At a minimum, 3 years of related experience are required. Wages to be determined based on experience.


Loading Operator

This position will focus on residential and commercial excavation. You should have a working knowledge of blueprints and site grade plans as well as at least 3 years of experience. Wages to be determined based on experience.

Labourer
This position requires at least 1 year of experience in the construction industry and the ability to lift at least 50 pounds. This position involves physical labour as well as equipment operation. Wages to be determined based on experience.

Skid Steer Operator

This job focuses on residential and commercial back-fills, grading and slab prep. At least 3 years of experience are required. Wages to be determined based on experience.

Project Manager / Estimator

This position’s duties include:

  • This is a senior position with leadership responsibilities within the estimating department.
  • You must be able to read and analyze blueprints as well as other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labour estimates.
  • You must assess cost-effectiveness of products, projects or services and track actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
  • You will consult with clients, vendors and personnel in other departments or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • You will confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • You will prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing and scheduling work.
  • You will prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors.
  • You will review material and labour requirements, to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components.
  • You will prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project.
  • You will prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors.
  • You will set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures.
  • You will establish and maintain tendering process and conduct negotiations.
  • You will conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reduction.
  • You will visit sites and record information about access, drainage and topography as well as the availability of services such as water and electricity.

The requirements for this job include:

  • At least 5 years of estimating experience with a working knowledge and understanding of the excavation industry
  • It will be an asset to have post-secondary education in civil engineering or construction management
  • It will be beneficial to have experience and knowledge of local marketplace
  • You should be competent with computers

Residential Supervisor

This position will report to the general supervisors. The residential supervisor is responsible for successful and on time completion of residential field excavations.

The duties include:

  • Time management of duties related to residential excavations, back-fills and loaming
  • Ensuring Prattco’s level of quality is met at every jobsite
  • Crafting daily schedules
  • Conducting quality control inspections
  • Communicating verbally with customers

The experience and qualifications required for this position are:

  • At least 5 years of experience in the residential excavation industry
  • At least 5 years of experience in scheduling and time management
  • At least 5 years of experience operating heavy equipment
  • A clean Class 5 licence or higher
  • Some mechanical experience is an asset

Commercial Supervisor

Reporting to the General Supervisors, the Commercial Supervisor is responsible for successful and on time completion of commercial excavations.

General duties and tasks include:

  • Time management of duties related to commercial excavations, back-fills and loaming
  • Ensuring Prattco quality is adhered to at every jobsite
  • Creating daily schedules
  • Leading quality control inspections
  • Verbal communication with customers

Experiences and qualifications for this job are:

  • At least 5 years of experience in the commercial excavation industry
  • At least 5 years of experience in scheduling and time management
  • At least 5 years of experience in heavy equipment operation
  • A clean Class 5 licence or higher
  • Some mechanical experience is an asset
